Five for Friday

parenting during pandemic
  1. Almost one year ago, I took this picture of Beck on the beach we're heading to tomorrow, wearing a mask like the kind, empathetic person she is. Today, we're getting ready to send her to in-person school in a state that MADE A LAW that does not allow school districts to mandate masks, no matter what the CDC says. I don't know, friends, I just don't know. It doesn't feel like a WWJD answer.
  2. To keep my mind of The World, I spent the week meal prepping for the beach, aka the best meal plan of the year. I've measured dry ingredients for no-knead bread and pancakes, made pesto, slow roasted tomatoes, frozen energy bites, and made a big batch of (another) Lindsay's pasta salad dressing to assemble once we get there for lunches. YUM.
  3. To add insult to SERIOUS injury of A Rough Week, my computer straight up died in the middle of a telehealth session yesterday. To be fair, it had lasted 4.5 years which is like 87 in computer years, they tell me, so I got a new one in less than 2 hours before my next session. It was...an adventure. It WAS an open box and I negotiated a further discount, so if it dies in 4 years...so be it. I had my eye on a fancier one but I love a deal and money doesn't grow on trees, it seems.
  4. I'm sure about 4 of you noticed, but there was no Five for Friday last week! Honestly, it wasn't a good week for it despite it being a little task that takes about 15 minutes. So let this be your reminder: sometimes we accidentally see things as mandatory, and really they aren't, even if they are very fun and cool or feel necessary. Skip all the things, I say.
  5. Happy weekend! We have a birthday party tonight for our twin nieces and are heading to the beach tomorrow to eat all this prepped food, do puzzles, and chill. We go to a super quiet beach, make zero plans, hardly do anything, and I can't wait. Here's to doing nothing intentionally. Have a great one!

Getting up there! Although of course "macs are superior in every way," they tell me.
