Hey, welcome to My Therapist Cooks!
I'm Lindsay, and I'm so glad you're here. I'm a recipe developer, food writer, and photographer, and I've spent nearly 15 years developing delicious, easy recipes for busy people to master.
This website is FULL of incredible recipes to help you live your best food life while staying calm in the kitchen - totally foolproof recipes that anyone can make.
I have been cooking and working in food for nearly my entire life. I learned a LOT about food living all over the world as a child, then once I moved back to the States I worked in food service for many years before becoming a therapist.
I've worked in restaurants, planned large events, and used to own a catering company! Since then, I've been developing recipes for home cooks, teaching cooking classes, and worked in a childhood nutrition clinic alongside dieticians, nutritionists, and therapists for part of my grad school career.
In short, I love food and work hard to bring you only really delicious recipes that will find a permanent home in your kitchen.
What Kind of Recipes Do You Make?
I focus on really good recipes, pared down when possible, that are simple to make and turn out well every single time.
I have found over the years that I go back to the same recipes over and over when they're really good. I don't need 5 banana bread recipes when I have one that is really amazing, that sort of thing (and I do, in fact, have a Hawaiian banana bread recipe that is made with olive oil and is absolutely incredible).
I'm in a very kid-friendly meals life stage right now, but I also love recipes with huge flavors, fresh ingredients, and that can be prepped in advance on busy weekdays.

Here Are Some Things About Me!
I live in Greenville, South Carolina with my husband Jay, our two kids, and a black lab named George Carlin Hastings. I'm a mental health therapist, and a lot of my work focuses on maternal mental health.
My husband was a comedian before we met, and remains one of the funniest people I've ever met. We laugh like, a lot. It makes things easier.
Our favorite recipes at the moment fall into the category of "things my kids will eat without a lot of whining," and nearly every week we have Mexican ground beef with homemade seasoning in burrito bowls, Mark Bittman's Everyday Pancakes, and broiled Korean salmon.
I anticipate that in about 10 years my kids will branch out to more than two dinners and one breakfast, but am trying to not get ahead of myself.

My Therapist Cooks FAQ
I make Dutch oven bread in a 4-qt Staub pot that I've had for years. You can find them lots of places, but about once a year they go on sale for $99 which is a great deal for a pot that you can use for so many things. I also like the Lodge Dutch ovens and they're a little cheaper.
Many of my recipes have been featured all over the internet! CNN, HuffPost, Buzzfeed, Foodgawker, Yahoo, and MSN have all showcased my work.
