- In case you aren't into Valentine's Day pasta (but, like, why), why not some cast iron skillet strip steak with shallots? Yes. Probably make those, and a twice baked potato casserole to go with it.
- I was browning some butter yesterday, as one does, and instead of kind of foaming and simmering down, the butter foamed up and over the pan I was using by almost ... double. It was like a pasta/rice/champagne situation. I took it off the heat it and it settled down, but I've never had that happen before. Anyway. Now my freezer is full of brown butter chocolate chip cookie dough, though, so there's that.
- Related, for Christmas I got these stainless steel measuring cups and spoons. They are MAGNETIC, a feature I didn't know I wanted but definitely love, and I just really highly recommend them if you don't have a set you like. Or, for me, if you are down to the last 2 of a 5-piece set due to some unfortunate disposal and dishwasher incidents. It's fine.
- I had a thought the other day, in one of my anti-anti-vaxxer musing moments (patent pending). What if we just....literally....all only had access to information about science that was the truth? It seems like a silly thing to even discuss because why isn't that happening, but obviously someone's wrong with some science stuff.
- Whatchoo doing this weekend? We're having some isolated family come visit for the long weekend and I'm just so excited to be around other humans. Going to cook all the food and hope it doesn't rain all weekend because kids indoors + nowhere to go....well, that's what Disney+ is for, you know? You know!
