Hawaii, Halfway Through

I told you yesterday that we're in Kauai for a few more days, and it's been really incredible thus far.  Don't forget to follow along with #funnylovehawaii on any social media you like!  The pictures that my friends are posting are super duper incredible.

In just a few short days we've done a TON, which is great.  We have a great routine of getting up pretty early (hayyyyy jetlag!), having breakfast, doing something outside, resting, then making dinner.  It's epic, and I'm loving the chance to cook for a big group in a lovely kitchen overlooking a lovely pool and garden.  HOW is this life?

On our first night here, we arrived later in the evening and were super pooped from the trip, so we headed to The Dolphin for dinner.  It's a local casual place with sushi AND legit food, and we had a great time eating and talking through bleary eyes - everyone had a long trip, but the food was fabulous and the service was great.  Alert:  Hawaii is expensive.  Everything is expensive.  This place without real walls had entrees for $32 or more, and that seemed totally legit - other places seem to be the same.  Everything was delicious, but be aware!

We ate breakfast one day at Common Ground, which might have been our favorite place thus far.  It's super casual, outdoors, and part of a farm!  Just a little counter where you order delicious breakfast or lunch items, then sit down, grab your own silverware, bus your own table, and eat fresh local food while you survey WONDROUS natural beauty.  Seriously.  The atmosphere at Common Ground is sort of like a picnic shelter, but the food is really well prepared and not campy at all, if that's even a thing.  I had a bagel with sprouts, raw cheddar, bacon, and other veggies, and WHOA.  Not an ordinary bagel for sure. Everything we had was fresh and flavorful, and I definitely wish we had more time to go back before we leave. From the CG website it looks like they do weddings, which WHOA.  Can you even imagine?

In between visiting Hanalei Bay and other beaches, we had happy hour one afternoon at Tahiti Nui in Hanalei, near some cute shops and beaches.  Still overpriced compared to South Carolina, but what isn't, really?  Like almost everywhere else we've been, this place had open walls, no AC (it's not needed), and featured a mix of super casual employees, Kauai residents, and tourists.  I'm not a huge mixed drink fan, but it's just  THING on vacay, isn't it?  We've had a great time ordering fruity drinks and telling stories and laughing and joking  - as you do when you go on vacation with 3 comedians, one wife, and me.  I mainly sit around observing how their minds work.  Homies be funny, yo.

We have two more days before we head home, and MAN are we trying to live it up.  Can't stop won't stop, all that nonsense.
