Happy Birthday, Dave!

Guys it's my dad's birthday.

He's the greatest ever.

First, he raised me.  And we got to move all over the world.  And he worked super hard to help us go to college AND grad school, which was kind of the best gift ever.

Also he's goofy.

And loving.

And funny.  He's a great grandfather to 3 crazy dogs, which he sometimes watches all at once with HIS dog, and then does this thing where he challenges himself to walk all four at once which....um...as he ages is gonna have to stop.  Those pooches aren't to be trusted with ankles and leashes.  He treats the granddogs like they're humans, assigning them all personalities and things that they like or dislike.  Interestingly, all of them love having their heads petted.  Not a ton of diversity there.

He's a really good father in law, too, which is important to me because he's a really good father in law to my husband.

He's got it tough, sometimes, with our brood.  He's kind of quiet and polite and exercisy, and we're all kind of loud and girly and drinky.  He handles the contrast with lots of dignity, which couldn't have been easy for all these years of 4 girls and a teensy wife that tells ish like it IS.  When he can handle being around our insanity, he offers great advice about career and life and money (not that we listen, or at least we won't admit that we do), and he and I LOVE talking about weird foodie things that we read or try out.

Also he lets us call him Dave, which is kind of hilarious and amazing.  But he's still Daddy, and we love him so much.

Happy birthday, Daddy!
