We're back from the city!

And we came back to a crazy week, firestorm at work (not the word I wanted to use), house showings out the wazoo but no offers, Jay gone for work all week, and just life, which isn't always a bad thing I suppose.
Instead of wallowing in that, though, we're plowing through the week with some fun "missed you Beck here are some carbs" things and basking in the memories of the weekend. We had a great time with my sister and coworkers, who are some of my favorite humans on the planet, ate some killer food, and generally enjoyed some time with Will, which was v special for a second child. He seemed not to care.
I DID have to fly home with him on Sunday, and I....didn't like it that much. Honestly it went fine, but he hardly slept (literally 15 minutes in the airport and 15 minutes on the flight, up for about 7 hours straight besides those two rests), so it was a lot of work to navigate some screaming and being REALLY entertaining slash going to the bathroom in airports with luggage and stroller and baby is hard without a second adult.
We had our own row on the way home, though, miraculously, so for a few minutes I let him lie on the seat (my arm was there the entire time and the seatbelt sign was off) and kick and play, which made him happy because probably it's not overly comfortable to be held all the time. Kiddo needed some breathing room.
Here are some of our favorite things!
Chelsea Market. This is admittedly a bit of a tourist attraction, but it was rainy and we were hungry so we went for it. We bought some spices for my parents, wine for a dinner we were going to, and ate MANY things. Favorite things were pork tacos from Los Tacos No. 1 (absolutely the best pork taco I've ever had), bulgogi dumplings from Mokbar, and fried oysters with prosciutto and a piece of garlic chive crepe aka BEST THING IN THE WORLD from Cull & Pistol. Definitely worth a trip!
Babu Ji. This was our first time at this Indian fusion place, and we were so impressed. Probably my favorite meal of the trip.
Etcetera Etcetera. This is an Italian fusion place near Times Square, but felt very not-midtown and we really enjoyed it.
Cafe Un Deux Trois. Also near Times Square (we stayed there because it was close to the show I had), we did breakfast here one day and it was lovely. Airy inside, lovely staff, great atmosphere.
Broadway @ Times Square. We stayed here for the first time, and the location was perfect for us, the hotel was quiet + reasonably priced + free breakfast, unusual for NYC, and the rooms were larger than we usually find in this part of town. King sized bed with room for a crib = not normal, very appreciated.
Murray's Cheese Bar. Right next to the cheese shop of the same name, this place was super cute, had great wine and small bites of fancy cheese. The dinner menu looked fantastic as well, and we'll definitely be back when we have more time for a full meal. The broccolini was particularly delicious.
So now we do laundry, we rest, we catch up. I'm going back the first weekend in October, and it can't come soon enough. My biggest struggle on these trips is visiting places I've tried and loved or going all-new every time, which is quite honestly one of the best struggles in the entire world to have. How's that for a Monday gratitude moment?
