Guys.
You know how you can pay a lot of money to get flavored cream cheeses?
That money goes towards another human using a dang blender, and some extra chemicals.
For my money, I'd rather make flavored cheeses at home! This one in particular is DELICIOUS - just a little bit of garlic and chive flavor running through the cheese.....OH MAN.
We made this a few weeks ago when we went to Boone, which I'll tell you about later, and it was wonderful for breakfast with smoked salmon! It was also wonderful stirred into pasta, eaten plain with a bagel....there are lots of options for this bad boy.
Here's what you need:
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 clove garlic
- ½ bunch chives (20 stalks or so)
I was making this for a gang, and I had a combo of regular and whipped cream cheeses - ignore that part! You're more than welcome to make a massive quantity of this if your heart desires.
So, clearly this isn't a big deal. You peel the garlic clove and drop everything into a blender or food processor, then whip away! Mine turned a hint of green from all the chives - use less if you're sensitive to onion flavor!
Taste your cheese and add a pinch of salt if you'd like - different cream cheeses have different salt levels, so this is up to you!
Look how lovely this is. You could spread it on crackers or toast alone....
....or you could add a nice hunk of smoked salmon to the mix.
What else could we do with this? I'm dying to make it again - it was highly addictive. You'll love it!
