...was a line from the father of the bride speech I heard on Friday night.
It was a good one, and I hope he doesn't mind that I stole it. He KILLED his speech (as my friend Katie said), and captured his daughter's love of the stage (she's an actress, that girl) as well as he captured the love she has for his new son-in-law.
Jay's best friend Rory got married this weekend to HIS best friend, Jordan.
They. Are. Awesome. Great friends of ours even though they live SO FAR AWAY IN LA, wonderful human beings in general, and in love in a very inspiring way. We want to copy their relationship all the time.
They LUCKILY got married close to us, in Black Mountain, NC. Lake Eden, their venue, was gorgeous, secluded, and perfect for them. Both nights took place in a massive tent, there was food, wine, dancing, and incredible amounts of laughter - as is often the case when ⅓ of the clientele is a current or former comic.
Jay was of course in heaven - most of his old comedy buddies live far away, and I had a blast accepting condolences for my choice of husband.
"Oh YOU married Hastings? We really appreciate what you're doing."
A joke, of course. For people who spend their time mocking each other, using horrible language and humor on stage, they LOVE each other. The group of comics that Jay and Rory started performing with years ago are an incredible group of people, and Jay's so lucky to have them in his life, even from a distance.
Rory and Jordan, for their part, threw an EPIC party weekend for us. Every detail was lovely, and even rain on the day of (LOTS of rain) didn't stop them from executing a perfect wedding.
We were so honored to be a part of the weekend, and are GRATEFUL for weekends like this, where we're so surrounded by love and laughter and happiness. They're restorative for the soul, and remind us how lucky we are to know LOTS of wonderful people.
Also - my married name was on something, which made me psyched.
CONGRATS you two! Thanks for constantly reminding us that The Together is the most important thing, and for being such a beautiful example of how to be an excellent person, friend, and couple. You light up in the MOST real way around each other, and we are SO happy for you. We love you!
These pictures are from all over the internet, mainly Instagram. The "real" picture is from their photographer, who was AWESOME. Go to her site and obsess over her work! If you're huffy that I used your picture 1. remember that I am a nice person who doesn't make money of this here blog, and 2. I'll take it down if you want. Over and out.
