Yes, pumpkins, you are.
My friends were here this weekend. I told you that, remember?
It was the most epic of all the epic weekends before a wedding.
Our guests were 4 girls that I sang with in college, and one baby. He wasn't alone - his mother was with him.
This is Michele! She's tied for my favorite person who visited this weekend. It's a 4-way tie. I don't know the baby as well yet.
These girls, man...there's something about ANY extracurricular in a small group (17 max) that just BINDS people, isn't there? There's also the small fact of 6-10 hours of rehearsal per week plus performances. We basically lived together.
I sang a cappella with these ladies at Elon over 5 years ago, and we decided to have a mini-reunion this summer. As luck would have it, the ONLY weekend that a group of us could reunite was last weekend. The weekend before our wedding, in the middle of it all.

Also last weekend, Jay arrived home from yet another week away for work. So, when he flew in there were 4 women and a baby in his house. And me. Kind of drunk, and singing.
For his part, the man was a saint. Gracious to my friends, ad I knew he would be, helped with the dishes, engaged the baby - EXACTLY how I'm sure he wanted to spend his first nights back home. He's a keeper, that one.
I didn't take a single real picture on my camera, and I'm FINE with that. I didn't photograph anything because I was enjoying the humans that were in my house.
We talked, we ate, drank, went out - all the things one simply must do on a girls' weekend. On Saturday night Jay's BFF Adam was playing at one of our fav clubs with his band, so we went and yelled obnoxious requests and danced all crazy-like.
It was the best weekend, and reminded me (and probably the others) of WHY we loved each other so much in the first place. The singing was great and all, but the love we have for one another stretches WAY beyond that. The conversations we have are real, honest, and usually end up with hugs, tears, and GIRLY-BREAKTHROUGHS THAT ARE SO IMPORTANT. They're the kind of women that I HATE live so far away, because the soul-healing that happens when we're together is epic, and so needed.
As for the rest of you clowns who didn't come? We missed you.
