Last year my 3 BFFs and I went to Charleston for the weekend. We were lucky enough to be able to use a friend's condo, and we NEEDED to leave this here town we live in.
Sometimes you just need to leave, right? On that same trip, we ate at Poe's Tavern, which I told you about here.
On our first night there, though, we went out for dinner to celebrate my friend Addie's birthday. We went here, to Water's Edge. It was delicious! It was warm enough that we were able to sit outside, the food was lovely, and the service was great.
That's enough for a whole review, right?
Maybe a bit more detail?
It's a simple review, really. I'm not going to say that this place was the most amazing that I've ever eaten. Check out their menu here - most of the dishes are familiar - which is exactly what we wanted for a beach weekend. Nothing too crazy, something moderately fancy but not ridiculous, and with fresh seafood options.
That's exactly what we got! We shared the crab dip to start, and it was GOOD. Creamy, a little spicy, and topped with puff pastry which, um...what's not to like?
For dinner, my other BFF Heather and I shared a salad and a pasta dish. They were both HUGE, which is something that was a trend at Water's Edge. All the portions were very generous, so I'd definitely recommend sharing! Without asking, our choices were both split into two plates, which is always a nice touch in terms of presentation.
When we got our Crispy Duck Salad salad we thought we'd accidentally ordered two before our server told us that, no, what we were looking at was one order split. This was definitely an entree-sized salad, and the crispy duck was a. may. zing. Definitely my favorite part of the meal, and I haven't ever seen anything else like it on a menu!
For our entree we split the Shellfish Pasta, which came nicely split and BIG portions again. The pasta (angel hair) was slightly overcooked, which is a pet peeve of mine because...it's not a hard skill. But, the shellfish was nice and the white wine sauce was delicious.
Overall, we loved our visit to Water's Edge and will definitely be back. Anywhere at the beach that has TONS of outdoor seating is always on my list, and great service and yummy food just added to our enjoyment.
