It's the end of summer, y'all.
Anyone going to the beach this weekend? I'm not, but I'm SO TOTALLY STOKED for a 3 day weekend. You don't even know. We're making sushi tonight for our supper club, and I'm basically just counting down the hours until I can GET. ON. THAT.
Making sushi is my favorite.
But, since it's the last weekend of summer and all that I thought it might be fun to tell you about a beach restaurant! Sound good?
I ate at Quigley's Pint and Plate wayyyyyy back in June when I was there for a bachelorette weekend with my sister and 3 bffs. We are on Pawley's Island in SC, and it was basically the best weekend ever. For our last meal before heading home we ate at this fun little pub!
We loved this place. It had great bar food, great specials, great service, and great atmosphere.
I need to look into synonyms for great maybe? I'll get right on that.
The shining glory of this place was that it opened at 11am and we got there at 10:55 like assholes. We were hungry, didn't want breakfast, and needed to get home. The staff was gracious and let us in - not a huge deal, but a nice touch. The HUGE DEAL was that pitchers of beer were $7 or something insanely cheap. I think $7. And not light domestic either. Fun legit beers that we'd never heard of because we aren't cool enough to know about fun legit beers but wanted to try anyway.
Oh and also. Food at this joint comes with biscuits and banana walnut butter. PEOPLE. It was insanity.
It was a great lunch. My bff Heather had blackened mahi tacos, which she loved.
My sister and I split a house salad and a burger of the day, which was something involving herbed cheese topper. The burger was super well-cooked (like we asked for it to be, not well done when we said medium-rare) and delicious, and the fries. OH, the fries.
Quigley's serves gravy with their fries, y'all, and I'm pretty much still thinking about it. I always kind of forget that gravy and fries is a thing, and then when I remember it I'm SO TOTALLY HAPPY and this gravy was GREAT. Beefy, brothy, not too thick...JUST RIGHT with insane flavor. And I think I just decided I'm going to try to recreate it at home this weekend.
The rest of the menu looked fantastic as well, and what I liked about it was that there were some regular bar food offerings, but most of them were SLIGHTLY kicked up, and there were some items on the menu that were decidedly better than bar food so...great for foodies who like to drink. The Thai Shrimp Wrap is DEFINITELY on my list of things to try next time I go.
This isn't quite a beach bar, but it's not a chain, which I love. I loved it there, and Heather and her family (who own a beach house on Pawley's) go there all the time.
Try it the next time you're at the beach!
I stumbled across your blog from foodbuzz and you are just hilarious. Love this blog. I too love Pawleys and spend entirely too much time at Quigleys when I am in town. My family has a vacation house in PI and I can't get enough of that place! Thanks for such a great review! I realized that the only mention I made of my most recent trip was that we ate out on the deck during a thunder and lightening storm! Still enjoyed it though ~ Can't wait to make it back to SC - good times and great food!
Ha - glad my attempts at humor aren't completely failing! Thanks for reading - I'm gunning to get back to Pawley's sooner rather than later, too!
