I love it so much it hurts my heart sometimes.
Not really, but you know what I mean. This is Nose Dive - a Gastropub. It's like.....affordable upscale bar food in a nice atmosphere with good service and fun drinks.
Also wine on TAP, so you know I'm in for that.
This place has been in Greenville for a few years, and it's still going STRONG. Right on Main Street, the location is a blessing and a curse - tons of traffic, but tons of competition. Nose Dive uses local ingredients, has a great happy hour, and I'm eternally conflicted when I go between ordering favorites from the menu or a daily special, which are always amazing.
For that reason, it's hard to describe the food at this place because it changes pretty frequently, I've tried almost everything, and it's ALL good. For starters, the mussels currently on their menu are great. GREAT, I tell you, and I'm a mussel snob. There is also usually a Pate and Pickles menu item, all made in-house, and you'll LOVE it. It's not mousse pate, which a lot of folks don't like. Rather, it's pate that's sort of like....meatloaf? Seriously. Don't be scared. Even picky eaters like it!
If you're into green raw things, you're in luck because all the salad dressings are made in house. The regulars like blue cheese and vinaigrette are all fine and dandy, but if you like dressings you very much should try the cilantro pumpkinseed vinaigrette. It's incredible, and I have taken to ordering extra for fries. Because I'm that girl.
There is a daily burger and sometimes a sandwich or salad feature, and the last time Jay and I ate here for lunch we shared a lamb sandwich with pickled jalapenos and OH MY GOSH we died. It was amazing. And it's not on the menu, so I'm officially angry that I can't eat it again. This brings me to another point about Nose Dive: Sharing. They will very nicely split any plate for you with no charge. It's a nice touch, and usually encourages me to try more things and tip nicely so....I say keep it up.
Also. Fries. If you're a sandwich or burger kinda kid, you'll love the fries. They're cooked in duck fat, people, and they're WORTH IT. White or sweet potato as options, and...just yes. Try them all the time. If you ask nicely they'll give you a combo of the two flavors with your sandwich so...you're probably gonna wanna do that.
Nose Dive has two bars, one upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs area of the restaurant is much more bar-like, and downstairs might be called more family friendly. There is live music most Thursdays-Saturdays, which I love because it's so much fun to check out local artists - sometimes even folks we know!
Brunch is another hot topic at Nosedive - brunch is on Saturdays and Sundays, and along with a regular condensed menu of breakfast items and a few lunch choices, there is a GRITS BAR. It's really good, and you should race to try it this weekend. Make plans now. On the times we've tried their brunch, the place has been crowded but not mobbed, and the service has RARELY been less than lovely.
Show these guys some love - hit up their website, check out the menu, and like 'em on Facebook. If you're feeling REALLY nice, go to Table 301's site (their parent company) and look at all the other great Greenville restaurants they've brought to us!
Seriously, though. Come visit. We'll go to Nose Dive together.

Thanks! Your comment came at a nice time...after a bit of food photography rejection on the interwebz. 🙂 It's a fake place, but it has quite a pull at my emotions. The compliment was welcomed! LOVE your blog.
