I went to a famous person's restaurant!
I'm pretty sure it was my first one.
Allow me to introduce you to Marc Murphy's Landmarc (the one in the Time Warner Building). I went a few months ago when I was in New York for music work I do. I didn't know where we were going in advance, just had a name and address in my inbox and told the cab where I needed to be.
Then, THREE MONTHS LATER, I realized one of my favorite CHOPPED judges owned the place.
Whatever, I'm slow.
I actually allllmost ate here on this same work trip a few years ago, but we decided not to because of the cost. You need to know - this isn't street food. The day I went we were there for brunch, and everyone ordered a combo of mimosa/coffee and eggs/hashbrowns. I always judge places more harshly at breakfast - it just ISN'T that hard to make eggs and potatoes taste good!
Lucky for my new bff Marc, his peeps make dang good eggs. The omelettes come with an actually good salad (better be, for $18!) with a nice dressing that coats the lettuce without being overly goopy. YAY. I'm a big fan of greens with breakfast, so this was a nice touch!
Our service throughout the meal was impeccable even though we had 1. lots of people, 2. lots of energy, and 3. lots of mimosas. Not the fav at 10am in NYC for servers, but everyone that helped us was lovely and played along with us thinking we were cool.
The lunch and dinner menus are relatively upscale, and have an Italian/American fusion flair. The dishes all look lovely, so sometime maybe I'll go and spend a fortune and tell you if Landmarc does bone marrow as well as eggs. There are some daily pastas on the dinner menu that have my stomach growling for sure.
So, there you have it. A celeb restaurant that is super duper delish, and isn't overly cheesy or expensive just because of someone's name. The later-in-the-day food could be horrible, but I sort of doubt it. If you're in the mood for a lovely atmosphere and great service and have a few extra $$ to spend, go for Landmarc! I'm excited to go back when I make my millions.
