What did you do the day after your wedding?Top of salad

I nursed a pitifully hungover husband and photographed things in restaurants for this here bloggy.  That's normal, yes?

It had to be done - we didn't want to miss out on fun things while we were in the mountains!

For lunch on our first day as The Hastings, we went to this fun place - Restaurant

Cornucopia was described to us as "a sandwich shop," and whoever said that must have not been paying attention.

For lack of a better word, Cornucopia Restaurant and Bar is a... wait for it...cornucopia of fun things.  Sorry, couldn't help myself. There are actually two parts to this joint - a deli/specialty shop with incredible cheeses, jellies, and snacks, and THEN a real restaurant with a bar.  Cheese case

We wandered around the shop for a little while before realizing that we'd just spent all of our dollars on a lovely wedding and that we didn't need $20/pound cheese, as much as we might have wanted some.

Instead, we ate lunch!  We sat at the bar, as we tend to do, and our bartender turned out to go to school right here in Greenville, where we're from!  We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, but especially the bar area with massive windows, tons of natural light, and pretty dark wood. Beer and hot sauce

Since we were celebrating, we drank.  A mimosa for me, beer for Jay.  The best part of the restaurant to HIM was the multiple flavors of Tabasco sauce.  Homie loves spicy stuff, and the variety of flavors to choose from was REALLY exciting. Salad with peaches

Food-wise, we shared the arugula salad with parmesan and spiced pecans, among other things, and a burger with avocado, which was super stellar.  Their Half of burger

The food was fabulous.  My ONE comment on the burger is that the toppings were THICK, and they kind of overtook the burger itself, which was delicious. The price was mid-range so...$9 or so for a salad which is a bit high but also this is one of very few restaurants in an expensive resort town so...can't blame them for charging when they know people will pay for it, right?

The burger was fantastic, and we entertained ourselves with fries dipped in ALL THE DIFFERENT Tabasco flavors with ketchup.  You know, standard honeymoon stuff. Husband

Even if you're not in need of a meal, take a whirl around the cheese shop or stop at the bar for a drink at Cornucopia.  You'll love the atmosphere, and maybe you'll be able to afford some high-priced cheese?  Let us know how it is.  We loved our experience there and are looking for a reason to drive an hour and a half and spend too much money on dinner.  Anniversary, maybe?
