My little sister is engaged. And also likes to make fun of maternity pictures.
I have 3 little sisters, this is the one two away from me. She's super smart, super driven, just graduated from college in Neuro-something (science? psych? I honestly don't know), and her girlfriend of almost SEVEN years, Katie, proposed to her on New Year's Eve. Katie is a teacher and probably the most kind, gentle, loving person you could ever hope to meet in your entire life.
I love engagements and weddings SO much. This was an expected-but-still-surprise engagement, and we just adore Katie. She's been around for so long it's not like YAY ANOTHER SISTER because she fell into that role years ago, but making it official and planning a wedding are just as exciting, old hat or not.
What's funny is that I think Olivia was more surprised than anyone at the proposal - we all kind of knew Katie's intended timeline, but I'm not sure Olivia did. After they got engaged they spent New Year's Eve downtown with friends being young and fielding text messages, and then starting on New Year's Day I offered to do every single wedding task possible and also have been wearing my phone and thumbs out texting them about their plans.
It's how I show love.
Congrats, ladies! Beck is thrilled to be in consideration for flower girl material and I am just thrilled to have another REAL sister.
Hurray for love!
