Happy (belated) Birthday to Jay!

Oh man.  wp-1480283571224.jpg

4-day weekends are the absolute best kind of weekend.  WHY don't we get them more often?  Labor and Memorial Day (s) are just a tease compared to Thanksgiving.

What did you do this weekend?  We had 2 thanksgivings, decorated the house for Christmas (! a work in progress.  need unlimited time and money and creativity.), and had a little football watching shindig on Saturday night for Jay's birthday.  He turned 26 plus ten.

I tried to make the whole weekend relatively calm and celebratory, which is his favorite thing (calm, relaxing is seriously the man's favorite verb), and I love this weekend extra because I get to be the most thankful for Jay.  He is the best father and partner, and even being super busy with a new job hasn't stopped the non-financial providing he does for us.  Yard work, baby giggles, dishes, endless listening about how bummed I am about the state of the world (only some days), and everything in between that makes him so wonderful.

Birthdays are different as an adult, of course.  It's kind of business as usual with a side of "I'll let you sleep while I handle the poop," but that's kind of enough at this point, right?  We're lucky in thousands of ways, and a break from the mundane is sometimes all it takes to feel extra grateful for the life we're living together.

Happiest of birthdays to you, my wonderful husband.  You deserve a break from the mundane a thousand times over.
