- A blast from the past and in serious need of some new pics BUT: Cajun Glazed Bacon is old but not to be forgotten. I photographed it awhile ago as part of a big Weekend Yummy Board Of Things (the best dinner, you know it's true), but we made it a few times this winter back when having people over was a thing, and again when we photographed the Cracker Barrel hashbrown casserole copycat. Point of the story: Cajun Glazed Bacon goes with all the things.
- We have two biggish (what is even a big thing anymore) things coming up, and also this week the coronavirus has gotten this.much. closer to us in terms of people we know, degrees of separation, etc. A selfish part of me is like I NEED THIS INTERACTION but meanwhile, online, the conspiracy theories and pseudoscience and utter stupidity and hate are REALLY getting to me. I don't know when we stopped listening to doctors and scientists, but it feels all sorts of wrong to me, y'all.
- Speaking of pseudoscience (you're like, why), I went for a 2pm run earlier this week in 92-degree heat and part of the shaded trail I run on was closed. So I took to running on the street in the sun and got, let's say, hot. And I was immediately struck with "how hot is too hot is it a fever!" before realizing that, like, 92 is just hot you're fine calm down. I'm fine. Not calm, but fairly fine.
- Pretty sure I heard Will say "goddamnit!" in his little no-consonant accent the other day when he knocked over a thing of blocks he was working on, so who says being out of school is bad for kids?
- Whatchoo doing this weekend? We're having my parents over for dinner (big fun, they're in our pod aka the only two people we see in person) and I'm making some kind of layered Greek-ish potato/tomato/eggplant/zucchini situation. Is that a real thing? Does it have a name? There will be feta and rosemary from our yard is all I know for sure. Have a great one! Do nothing! Wear a mask! Outside! Listen to doctors!
