- This child turns two tomorrow. HOW. (picture by Jay, dog by Humane Society). I am overwhelmed with emotion and so very excited for her. She has big plans for her party, including "blue, purple, and WHITE bawoons!" Happening. There will be lots of details about Beck at two and some toddler favorites, but the highlights are that blue is her favorite color, she is just now learning to sit still while I do her hair and is very proud of her 5-second attention span, and "I don't want to...." is her favorite way to start literally any sentence. She is my absolute favorite person.
- We definitely had one of those meh Christmas decorating experiences this year. We were all DECORATE AND WINE AND CHRISTMAS MUSIC, and then Beck got sick, and work got crazy, and construction started on the house....but somehow it looks vaguely festive in here, despite threats of time-out about 18 times per day because "ornaments stay ON the tree until we say so!!"
- A reverse bucket list. GAH, yes. Because you are already phenomenal, I know this for a fact.
- As I type this there is a massive cement truck rolling into our driveway to pour foundation for our new addition! The construction is going exactly as construction goes, we are two weeks in, already one week behind (I know), and the cable was spliced in 2 places by accident on Wednesday because literally no one pays attention to anything ever. But concrete! This is exciting because currently the "work" is just a big hole full of mud because of course it rained this week and is currently sleeting.
- Besides that! Beck is having a birthday sleepover with her grandparents tonight so we can get the house ready for her party, and Jay and I are going to attempt a Christmas date tonight, weather permitting. December 8th seems OK to get your first Christmas presents, right? We are the parents so we decide, which is incredibly liberating. Then the rest of the weekend will be birthday-ing, cooking for the blog, and generally festivating. Enjoy!
