- In case you missed it, a recap of Friendsgiving and a weekend away with honestly the best humans I know. Also, if you haven't checked it out yet, here's our entire Thanksgiving archives! So.Many.Side.Dishes.
- My mom watches Beck two days a week while I work at a less-forgiving job (it's a hospital, can't casually have a toddler "helping"), and today she can't for half of the day because she got called to serve as guardian ad litem for a child being adopted. And my mom, being the 100% saint that she is, apologized when giving us this news. I don't do cards or gifts very well, but if I did, the note to my mother would go like this: "Dear Mama, thank you for watching our child two or more days per week for two full years. Also, please remember the former sentence the next time you call to tell me that you are only 'generally reliable.' You are hugely reliable and also a better parent to me and Beck combined than I ever will be to even the damn dog. Also, feeling guilty for not watching my child while you help another child FIND A FOREVER HOME does not count as unreliable or anything to feel guilty for, ever. You are a perfect human and also really fun to hang out with. Love, Lindsay." (I have a real way with words, this is why I don't send cards)
- Overheard during bedtime the other night: "What are you, brand loyal to butt cream? LIE STILL!"
- So, of course we know because I can't shut up about it that we got a new bed!!! and hence had to get new sheets, etc because it is a bigger size than we used to have. And I totally have a love/hate relationship with the process because I hate super matchy-matchy stuff but also don't have the time, money, energy, or patience to carefully curate my own look, so you see the dilemma. BUT WHAT I'VE LEARNED IS that omg a lot of people buy Christmas sheets. They must, based on the number of Christmas sheets there are available at literally every major retailer in this small city. Is this a thing that people actually do? I can't even fathom, but the availability tells me that perhaps I'm late to a party that I never intent to go to.
- Guys, it's the weekend. For us, it's the calm before the storm. We will be busy with meal planning and photographing new things BUT ALSO we have plans to finish the unfinished - hang a picture I framed weeks ago, stick stuff in the attic that is in a pile, hang a shelf that has stuff alllll ready to go on it, just needs a home, that kind of thing. I love weekends like this because they are so satisfying, and the end result is so much fun and family time next week! Three quick work days next week and DONE.
