    Homemade Cashew Butter - Vegan!

    October 11, 2013 by Lindsay 6 Comments

FRIDAY IS HERE.  Finally.  This week took it out of me a little bit.  IMG_7927

First and foremost, a huge happy happy to my mama, who turns one year older than she was at this time last year today.  She's kind of the best mom in the world.  Sorry other moms.

So, in her honor, and because it's Friday, I'm giving you a healthy, raw, vegan snack.

You know about this, yes?  It's nearly as dumb as the banana ice cream "recipe" I gave you awhile back.  Not really a recipe, more a method, super easy, and yummy.  Totes yummy.

Bacon Asparagus Quiche with Puff Pastry

April 8, 2013 by Lindsay Leave a Comment

    I made quiche!

This is a big thing for me.

I don't like eggs so....quiche?  Frittata?  Not so much.

    Slice of quiche

BUT, my mom used to make quiche all the time when I was little so it's kind of a thing in our family.  And THEN our friend Matt brought us some eggs that his chickens laid.  And I wasn't going to use fresh eggs in brownies or something dumb.  AND THEN I had some sad asparagus that I wanted to use.

So I made quiche.  With bacon too.

I loved it!  I knew I would like it but...this was REALLY good.  I think I'm going to stop hating quiche.  The sharp cheese and fresh eggs and bacon .... OH.  You need to try this ASAP.

    Smoked Salmon Brunch

    September 20, 2012 by Lindsay 1 Comment

    Welp.

I've been telling you about all these dumb cream cheeses.

    I'm sorry about that.

There was a reason for it, though!

I know you're relieved to know that the time has come for you to know the reason.

We're going to have a smoked salmon spread for brunch!

    Or lunch.

    Or a shower.

    Or a wedding.

    Or a party.

    You get the picture.

    Garlic-Chive Cream Cheese

    September 18, 2012 by Lindsay 1 Comment

    Guys.

You know how you can pay a lot of money to get flavored cream cheeses?

That money goes towards another human using a dang blender, and some extra chemicals.

For my money, I'd rather make flavored cheeses at home!  This one in particular is DELICIOUS - just a little bit of garlic and chive flavor running through the cheese.....OH MAN.

We made this a few weeks ago when we went to Boone, which I'll tell you about later, and it was wonderful for breakfast with smoked salmon!  It was also wonderful stirred into pasta, eaten plain with a bagel....there are lots of options for this bad boy.

    Cozy Fall Dessert: Ginger-Pear Turnovers

    November 7, 2011 by Lindsay 2 Comments

This time of year I just love cozy, warm food with flavors that remind me of ANYTHING relating to pumpkin pie.  Alspice, cinnamon, and nutmeg just remind me of what a great time of year this is!

The problem with that is that most foods, namely desserts, that have those flavors can be pretty unhealthy.  I like to eat WAY TOO MUCH to blow calories on one heavy dessert, so I like things in small bites that use fruit instead of unhealthy fillers to add volume without calories to the dish.

These bite-sized desserts are perfect for a party or as a quick dessert when you feel like you should have a dessert but don't necessarily feel like baking - they're easy!
