Baby Seal Tricks

Guys.  20160912_090114-01

Beck is basically a genius.  I know!  Great news.  This is her naming shapes!  jk lulz as if.

She has, in the past few days, started fully imitating us, and it's been about one new skill every day.  She has FIVE things she can do now.  She can wave, make that motorboating sound, high five, make a tongue clicking sound, AND make a mwah kissing sound.  The high fiving basically includes her holding up her hand and us high fiving her, but you take what you can get, right?  I'm great at high fiving.

Like I said, it's genius.

But, here's the thing.  We make her do them all in a row.  Like a seal at Sea World, and it makes me laugh so hard at us because who DOES that?  "Now do this!  Now do this!  Here's a piece of cheese!"

Animal trainers, that's who.  Parents are basically very tired, overly proud, forgiving animal trainers.

Here's the other thing, though.  In case you ever feel bad about yourself, please take a minute to remember that you can imitate or even initiate way more than 5 skills, and I'm willing to bet that some of your skills are useful for, you know, actual life.  And also that your parents are just as proud of you as I am of Beck, even when you only click your tongue like a damn fool.  A parent's love is simple, in a very good way.

Happy Monday!
