    New York In The Fall

    September 27, 2017 by Lindsay 1 Comment

...the fall that feels like summer, but whatever.

We are mainly recovered from our NYC trip last weekend, save for a gross cold that I blame on airplanes and not sleeping. It was the BEST TRIP EVER, although I say that almost every time I come back from New York. This particular trip was for a brand new tournament that the company I work for just launched, but my sister also just moved to Brooklyn so my mom came with me. We had 2 days of hanging out and sightseeing, one looooong day of show stuff and a super duper fun afterparty, then a trip home that can only be described as delirious, we were so tired. ...

    New York City 2017

    May 17, 2017 by Lindsay 1 Comment

....a month later, because that's how things work around here these days.

But!  We went to New York like every year, had a killer time, slept way too little, came back vaguely miserable due to exhaustion, and can't wait to do it again next year.  This New York trip will always be the most nostalgic for me because coming home from NYC two years ago was when I found out I was pregnant with Beck.  I'll always remember feeling like garbage the whole weekend but kind of not caring because I love the city so much.  We got home after 3 hours of sleep that Sunday, peed on a stick, and cried because Jay hated his job and mine was just meh and also three hours of sleep.  Clearly we have slept since then and got better jobs and wouldn't trade Beck's timing for anything, but that memory now comes flooding back every time I'm in the city in April.  ...

    NYC Weekend

    April 24, 2018 by Lindsay 2 Comments

We are home, we are somewhat recovered, the laundry is still out of control.

But, another great New York trip is in the books, and I can't wait for the next one. Last year I was lucky to get to the city twice for work, and this year I'm super duper hoping to do the same thing. We had a great time, as we always do. I go for the final event of the a cappella tournament I work with, a sold out show at Beacon Theater that is magical, inspiring, and hugely entertaining.

This year was super DUPER special because my youngest sister Julianne lives in Brooklyn now, so we got to spend tons of special time with her. I used my "work" time to reconnect with my coworkers who live all over the world, and in between seeing friends, doing the show, and sitting in cabs in traffic we managed to see some great stuff, eat some fabulous things, and generally enjoy feeling the city all around us. I adore big cities, and am so glad I get to spend lots of time in New York.

2017 In Review + Favorite Recipes

December 28, 2017 by Lindsay Leave a Comment

Second-to-last blog post of the year HOW. I mean, seriously.

BUT FIRST, how was your Christmas? And your week? We had the BEST time in San Diego and I'm filtering through pictures and recommendations and generally reflecting on how cool our trip was. We are a little slow around here because we came back to the news of my sweet uncle dying way too soon, so in the process of unpacking our lives I'm intentionally giving myself permission to keep at slower pace and spend more time with family + relaxing these last few days of the year rather than killing myself with a gazillion blog and work items.

That being said, I have some way-fun things coming up in January, so thank you for your patience.

I love looking back over the year and spending more time talking about what we DID do instead of what we didn't manage. It goes back to the reverse bucket list thing I read a few weeks ago - there will forever and always be a "we didn't get to this" portion of our thoughts, but focusing more on the gazillion fun and inspiring and productive things we did manage in 2017 is useful and empowering and fun. I'm proud of our 2017.
