Happy New Year's Eve! We're all aflutter getting ready for Addie and Rick's wedding tonight. I've never been to a NYE wedding, and I'm super duper excited to be a part of such a fun thing!
I'm not much of a resolution-maker, but what I LOVE about this day (week, really), is looking back at the year we're leaving and celebrating growth. This time last year Jay and I were barely engaged, my sister was moving in with us, and Jay was two jobs ago from where he is now. Now? Sissy bought herself a dang house, Jay's in a great new job, we're totes hitched, and 2014 is just itching to get here and be a new awesome year.
This little website had a big year, too! I can't tell you how much we REALLY appreciate you for coming back day after day, and giving us such killer suggestions for what we should be cooking! Let's look back at this year - here are the top 10 recipes that you love Love LOVE. They're some of my favorites, too!
10. Portobello Burgers - gah, these were great. I'm so excited for summer to come again so we can jazz 'em up in 2014!
9. Crispy Baked Fish - possibly my fav fish recipe of 2013, and that's saying a lot. I can't get enough of how healthy yet decadent this is!
8. Asian Braised Cabbage - this is ancient, so excuse the pictures, but you've loved it year after year, and for good reason - it's easy and delicious.
7. Prime Rib with Horseradish Cream - one of our newest offerings, so even more impressive that this made the list. You guys loved it, and so did we! I'm thinking it needs to make an appearance at Easter.
6. Parmesan Crusted Fish with Creamy Dill Sauce - another old recipe, and probably one of the top 3 recipes on this site EVER. I'm making it in Hawaii next week, WHAT WHAT! Try it soon, even if you're not in the tropics. It's absolutely divine.
5. Sauteed Zucchini and Onions - another oldie, and one that goes beautifully with numbers 8 and one on this list - you guys love this quick Asian meal!
4. Grilled Cheese - this one makes my heart feel warm, because we're really so similar. Some days, you really need to screw the fancy stuff and eat white bread, butter, and processed cheese. I love you for loving this as much as I do.
3. Slow Cooker Stuffing - also new in 2013 due to a slow cooker finally making it's way into my kitchen. What else should we slow cook in 2014?
2. Spicy Crab Salad - seriously tastes like a spicy crab roll, but you make it at home. Mucho simple, mucho impressive.
1. Hibachi Shrimp - this one makes every best-of list because it's SO simple yet delicious, and foolproof even for brand new cooks. A well-deserved first place.
So there we have it, friends! Our year of food together. You picked well, let me tell ya. What a balanced menu we'd have if all of these things made it onto a plate at once, huh?
It wouldn't be too much food. Stop saying that. (happy new year)
